"The Flow" is an art installation created through a family collaboration between Rocco and Zivile Fornari, combining art, textiles, natural dyes, technology, and kombucha fermentation.
The idea behind "The Flow" is to represent the complexity of water—its capacity for movement and its fundamental roles of hosting and nourishing all forms of life. Water is a vital element in our world, akin to blood in our vessels and riverbeds flowing, distributing, and bringing life.
The installation features an abstract patchwork of quilts made from fabric pieces naturally dyed with indigo and kombucha leather. The main quilt incorporates transparent tubes embedded in the fabric, which transport water of various colors between glass containers. As the water completes its first cycle, the colors mix and create new shades. This movement generates sound, which is further enhanced by a soundscape installation. The main piece is accompanied by additional textile quilts and batik works, also dyed with indigo, reflecting the theme of the water
